Islam is one of the fastest growing religions in the world. Its followers number over 1.5 billion worldwide. Along with Judaism and Christianity, it is considered to be one of the three Abraahamic traditions.
Over one billion people from a vast range of races, nationalities and cultures across the globe - from the southern Philippines to Nigeria - are united by their common Islamic faith. About 18% live in the Arab world; the world's largest Muslim community is Indonesia; substantial parts of Asia and most parts of Africa are Muslim, while significant minorities are to be found in Russia, China, North and South America, and Europe.
Islam is a monotheistic religion based on revelations received by the Prophet Muhammad [Peace be upon him]in the 7th century, which was later, recorded in the Qur'aan Islam's sacred text. The Arabic word Islam means "Submission," reflecting the religion's central tenet of submitting to the will of God.
Islamic practices are defined by the Five Pillars of Islaam:
Declaration Of Faith, Prayer’s, Fasting, Pilgrimage and giving Zaakat [Alms].
Islam is a complete way of life that governs all facets of life: moral, spiritual, social, political, economical, and intellectual.
Muslims believe in and acknowledge all the Prophets of old, from Prophet Hazrat Aadam
[Alaiehis-Salaam] to Prophet Hazrat Jesus/ Ieesaa [Alaiehis-Salaam].
All Muslims are not Arab. Islaam is a universal religion and way of life which includes followers from all races of people. There are Muslims in and from virtually every country in the world.
Arabs only constitute about 20% of Muslims worldwide. Indonesia has the largest concentration of Muslims with over 120 million.
In the five daily prayers, Muslims face the Kaabaa in Makkah, Arabia. It is a cube-shaped stone structure that was originally built by Prophet Hazrat Aadam [Alaiehis Salaam] and later rebuilt by Prophet Hazrat Ibraheem [Alaiehis-Salaam].
The Muslims believe that the Kabah was the first house of worship on Earth dedicated to the worship of One God.
The Kabah serves as a central focal point for Muslims around the world, unifying them in worship and symbolizing their common belief, spiritual focus and direction.
