Why Should We Read Durood Shareef?

The Holy Prophet

(Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) has said:

“Recite Durood on me in abundance on Fridays, for Durood is presented to me (on Fridays).” [Abu Dawood, Nisai, Ibne Majah and Ibni Hibban]
“Read Durood on me in abundance for it is a purifier for you.” [Abu Ya’la Musali]
“When I am mentioned in the presence of someone, he should recite Durood on me.” [Nisai, Tibrani, Abu Ya’la, Ahmad]
“Whoever addresses me should recite Durood on me.” [Abu Ya’la Musali]
“Continue reciting Durood on me. Your Durood reaches me from where ever you are.” [Nasai]
“A great miser is he in whose presence I am mentioned and he refrains from reciting Durood on me.” [Tirmidhi, Ibne Hibban, Mustadrak]
“May that person be destroyed who refrains from reciting Durood on me when I am mentioned in his presence.” [Tirmidhi]
“If a person is in difficulty then he should recite countless number of Durood Shareef.”
“Reciting Durood Shareef eradicates poverty and hunger.”
“If the sawaab (rewards) of the Durood Shareef is forwarded to another person, then that person will receive the sawaab (rewards), while the sawaab of the reader will not be decreased.”
“Reciting excessive Durood Shareef brings purity.”

“Those who recite Durood Shareef quite often will see Divine Light on the dark Day of Judgment.”
“Three people will be under the cool shade and the favors of Almighty Allaah on the Day of Judgment. One who kept the Prophet‘s Sunnah alive, one who removed the difficulty of a fellow being and one who recite maximum number of Durood Shareef in his life time.”

“Bad deeds of 200 years (equivalent) are eradicated if a man recites 100 Durood on Friday.”
“Anyone who recites Durood will overcome all their troubles.”
“If anyone recites Durood Shareef from any place, any part of the world from any distance, it actually reaches the Prophet immediately. Almighty Allaah has appointed several Angels who are given exclusive duty to collect all Durood Shareef and present the same before the Prophet immediately.”
“Whenever you hear the call of prayers (Azaan) you should recite Durood Shareef.”
“All people will be presented to the Prophet with their habits, natures and distinct manner, so it is obligatory for a person to recite maximum number of Durood.”
“He himself recites blessings on the one who recites Durood on him.”
“I pray for all those who recite Durood on me.”
“If a person recites 1000 Durood Shareef daily, he will never die unless he himself sees his place in Heaven with his own eyes.”
“Any Durood Shareef recited by a person is written with a golden pen on a silver tablet by the Angels. The Angels then present this Durood Shareef to the Prophetand proclaim, “O beloved of Allaah! The son of such and such a person has presented this gift in your majestic court.””
“Without doubt, there is an Angel of Almighty Allaah whom Allaah has given powers to listen to the voices of all the people. Whenever any person reads the Durood Shareef, this Angel delivers the Durood Shareef to me. I then plead to Almighty Allaah for the person to receive ten blessings for reading a single Durood Shareef”. [Jami’us Sagheer]

The Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) said to his wife, “Anyone who hears the name of the Prophet and does not recite Durood on him, he will not see the beautiful face of the Prophet on the Day of the Judgment”.

Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (Allaah be pleased with him) narrates, “I heard the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) say, “On the Day of Judgment he would intercede for anyone who recites Durood Shareef upon him.””

Hazrat Sayyidina ‘Alee (Allaah be pleased with him) narrates “The real miser is he in whose presence I am mentioned and then he fails to recite Salaat on me.””

Hazrat Anas (Allaah be pleased with him) narrates, theHoly Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) said, “He who reads a single Durood upon me, Almighty Allaah blesses him ten times, ten of his sins are forgiven and he is increased ten times in status.” [Mishkaat]

Hazrat Abdullaah Ibne Ma’sud (Allaah be pleased with him) narrates, theHoly Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) said, “On the Day of Qiyamah (Judgment), the closest to me among the people will be those who have read the most amount of Durood Shareef.” [Tirmidhi]
