Part-2 -
THE MIRACLE OF ASCENSION-MAIRAJ UN NABEE-OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD ﷺ
THE OPENING OF THE CHEST- SHAQQ E SADR-BURAAQ-SIDRA TUL MUNTAHAA-RAFF
RAFF
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ performed
ablution and they went to the Kabah Shareef where Shaqq e-Saadr (Opening of
the chest) occurred. Angels came and cleaved open his chest, took out his
heart, washed it with the water of Zam-Zam, filled it with Noor and wisdom, and
placed it back to its prior form.
Prophet Muhammad -Ascension |
He then mounted a white heavenly animal called
the Buraaq The name "Buraaq" is derived from the word
"Bareeq" which means "white " in Arabic. According to
another view, its origin lies in the word "baarq " which means
"light", the speed of which is well-known; hence the name Buraaq.
The speed of the Burraq is according to his
sight. His legs reach wherever his eyes can see.
On the Heavens above and the earth below there was festive celebration;
The dazzling lights came down smiling and the fragrant perfumes went up on this occasion.
Allaah Kareem states in the Holy Qur’aan:
“Holy is He Who carried His bondsman by night
from the Sacred Mosque to the Aqsaa Mosque around which We have put blessings
that We may show him Our grand signs. No doubt, He is the All-Hearing and the
All-Seeing.”
[Surah 17, Verse 1]
It is related by Hazrat Anas
[Radiyal Laah Anhu]
The Prophet Muhammad
(Sallal-Laahu
'Alaiehi Wa Sallam)
said, "On the night in which I was taken
on the journey, I passed by Moosaa/Moses [Alaiehis Salaam] and he was performing
salaah in his grave."
(Saheeh Muslim Pg.268 Vol.1)
Allaah ordered His Beloved Prophet on the
night of Mi’raaj to see the palaces and mansions and gardens of his believers!
The Prophet is Basheer and Nazeer. Basheer is one who gives good news and a
Nazeer is one who warns people. The Prophet ﷺ narrates that he saw the palaces of
his close companions such as Abu Bakr Umaar, Usmaan and Ali [Blessings on
all of them] …. the various splendors’ have all been shown to our beloved Prophet
ﷺ as an
encouragement for the righteous. He was also shown punishments meted out
to the inmates of Jahannam(hell) as a warning.
Then he was carried to Sidraat-ul-Muntaahaa
(the remotest lote tree) and was shown Al-Bait-al-Maa'mûr (the much frequented
house) which is like the Kaa'bah (Sacred House) encompassed daily by seventy
thousand angels, so that the angels who once encompassed it would not have
their turn again till the Resurrection].
The word "Sidrah " in Arabic means
"a lote tree ", while "Al-Muntahaa " denotes
"furthest" or "a place of ending".
The Prophet then mounted Raf-Raf, a
heavenly carpet, ……
When they reached Sidraatul Muntaahaa Hazrat
Jibraeel
[Alaiehis Salaam] remained behind and
said,
“If I go further as much as a hair’s breadth I
will burn and perish.” I cannot go any further, but you O Messenger of peace
and friend of the Master of the worlds, continue your Glorious Ascent.' He then
travelled from Sidraat ul Muntaaha to Qaabaa-Qaausain [Place of Proximity to
Allaah Ta’aala]. He reached a realm where there is no place, time, direction
and attribute, and saw Allaah Ta’aala in an unknown, incomprehensible and
unexampled manner. Subhaan Allaah!
