DID YOU KNOW?
Baiet Al-Maqdis [or Baiet
al-Muqaddas] is the first Qiblah of Muslims, it is located in the Palestinian city
of Al-Quds or some have mentioned the city itself as Baiet al-Maqdis.
Since there are many Blessed Shrines of
the Prophets [Alaiehis
Salaam] in this
land, so it is called Quds.
The Holy Shrine of the Prophet Sulaieman
[Alaiehis Salaam] and the famous Masjid Al-Aqsa Mosque is also located in this
city.
Forty years after the foundation of
the Kabah, Hazrat Adam/Aadam [Alaiehis Salaam] or
one of his descendants laid its foundation.
It was built by Hazrat Saam bin Nuh/Nooh [Alaiehis Salaam]
Many years after that, Hazrat Dawood [Alaiehis Salaam] laid the foundation of Baiet al-Maqdis at the place where the tent of Prophet Hazrat Musa [Alaiehis Salaam] was erected.
But before the
completion of the building, his worldly life came to an end. He bequeathed his
son Hazrat Sulaieman [Alaiehis
Salaam] for the
completion of the building.
Hazrat Sulaieman [Alaiehis Salaam] then deployed a group of Jinns and assigned them to complete the construction. His time arrived to leave this world and one year’s work was left for completion of the construction.
He performed Ghusl, put on new clothes, applied fragrance, and stood on the supervision site. He pinned his staff to the ground to support his back. The Angel of Death arrived on the specific moment and removed his soul in this posture.
His body did not move an inch from its position. Previously, the Jinns
worked during the day and rested at night. But now they had to work around the
clock because Hazrat Sulaieman [Alaiehis Salaam] was present all the time watching them. No one had the
courage to seek permission for rest, therefore they worked day and night and
completed the construction.
Hazrat Sulaieman [Alaiehis Salaam] built the mosque of Baiet al-Maqdis with marble, diamonds, pearls, and rubies and arranged Kibrit Ahmar [Red Sulphur] at the top of the dome which illuminated to many miles.
In the blessed time of Prophet Zakariah
[Alaiehis Salaam] the number of the servants of Baiet
al-Maqdis was 4,000. These servants had 27 or 70 chiefs whose leader was
Prophet Hazrat Zakaria [Alaiehis Salaam]
From Hazrat Aadam to Prophet Musa [Alaiehis Salaam], the blessed Ka'bah remained the
Qiblah. Then from Prophet Hazrat Musa to Prophet Ieesa, Baiet Al-Maqdis
remained the Qiblah.
[Alaiehis Salaam]
After the migration, the Muslims
prayed facing Baiet al-Maqdis for 16 or 17 months in Madinah Munawwarah.
One year and five and a half months
after the migration, according to the wish of the Beloved Prophet ﷺ, on Monday
the 15th of Rajab, the Qiblah was changed during the Zuhr prayers at the Bani
Salamah Mosque
[now known as Qiblataen Mosque].
