The Fasting in the Month of Shawwal & Hadith/Hadees Saying of the Holy Prophet ﷺ

The Fasting in the Month of Shawwal & Hadith/Hadees Saying of the Holy Prophet ﷺ

Keeping the Spirit of Ramaadan Alive All Year
As we enter upon the month of Shawwal, let us not leave off the many acts of worship we performed during the blessed month of Ramaadan.
Fasting of Shawwal
The Beloved Messenger of Allaah Kareem,
said:

"The evils caused for a man through his family, wealth and neighbor are expiated by prayer, fasting and charity."
Hadees
 [Bukhaari Shareef]

In a Hadees, narrated by Hazrat Jaabir bin Abdullah [Radi Allaahu'Anhu] the Beloved Messenger of Allaah [Peace Be Upon Him]said:
“The one who observes six fasts of Shawwal after Eid al-Fitr will be regarded as though he has fasted the entire year."

It is excellent to keep these six fasts on six different days in Shawwal but if kept consecutively there is no harm in it.
The Beloved Prophet [Sallal Laahu 'Alaiehi Wa Sallam]explained to us that fasting protects us from our unlawful desires, shields us from the hell fire and draws us closer to Allaah Almighty and His Paradise.
Prophet Muhammad
[Sallal Laahu 'Alaiehi Wa Sallam]

also encouraged us to fast at least three days each month. The best days for this optional fasting are Mondays and Thursdays, or the fourteenth, fifteenth and sixteenth days of the lunar month.
May Allaah Almighty give us the guidance and Taufeeq to act upon what we learn.
Aameen.
