HAZRAT MUSLIM BIN AQEEL… ASSIGNMENT AS THE AMBASSDOR: رضی اللہ عنہ

After consulting with many people and much deliberation Hazrat Imaam Hussain, رضی اللہ عنہ came to the conclusion that he would first send a reliable person to Kufa to access the situation, see if the people are genuine about their concerns and then decide whether he should go to Kufa.

Hazrat Imaam Husaien رضی اللہ عنہ after receiving so many petitions and messages from Kufa, decided to send Muslim Bin Aqeel, who was his paternal cousin and a famous warrior, as his emissary to Kufa to study the situation there and report to him. He explained to Hazrat Muslim Bin 'Aqeel رضی اللہ عنہ about the written requests being sent from Kufa and therefore he is appointing him as his representative to go to Kufa and give a firsthand report on the situation there.

Hazrat Imaam Husaien رضی اللہ عنہ told him that if the situation warrants that he should come to Kufa then he should send a letter and asks him to come, but if the situation is not good then Imaam Muslim should return to Makkah. His paternal cousin Hazrat Muslim Bin 'Aqeel رضی اللہ عنہ accepted the mission. Hazrat Imaam Husaien, wrote a letter to the people of Kufa telling them that he was sending Hazrat Muslim Bin 'Aqeel as his deputy to Kufa and they should give the pledge of allegiance to Hazrat Imaam Husaien on the hands of Hazrat Imaam Muslim رضی اللہ عنہ and they should serve him.

He further said that if he gets a favorable report/response from Imaam Muslim Bin Aqeel رضی اللہ عنہ then he will come to Kufa. He sealed the letter with his personal seal and sent it with Hazrat Imaam Muslim to Kufa.

Hazrat Muslim Bin 'Aqeel رضی اللہ عنہ two sons Hazrat Muhammad and Hazrat Ibrahim requested that their father, take them with him. Hazrat Imaam Muslim رضی اللہ عنہ did not want to dishearten his sons and he took them with him. He first went to Madinah, met his dear ones, and then left for Kufa.
