The Intercession of Allah's Beloved: Shafa'ah Is Haqq
The intercession (shafa'ah) of Allah's chosen servants is haqq, a established truth. It is affirmed by many verses of the Quran, a chain of authentic ahadith, and the consensus of Muslim scholars, and the books of our tradition are full of it.
The Heart of the Belief
Allah Almighty is the only true Creator, Master, and King. He has no greed and fears no one. He is absolutely independent, while everyone else is dependent on Him.
From among His servants, He has chosen His beloved ones and made our master Muhammad Mustafa ﷺ their leader. Out of His boundless mercy, He honors them with His favors and listens to their pleas. He has made them intercessors for His servants in order to show their greatness and excellence.
He has also blessed the awliya (saints) of the Prophet's ﷺ community with such a lofty rank that if they swear by Allah for something, He makes their words come true.
The Promise to the Beloved
Allah Almighty made our master and leader, Muhammad Rasulullah ﷺ, His greatest vicegerent and beloved, and promised him:
"And soon your Lord will give you so much that you will be pleased."
(Surah Ad-Duha, 93:5)
The Prophet ﷺ, most affectionate toward his community, answered this promise by saying that he would not be pleased if even one of his ummah remained in the Fire.
What Greatness Is This
Glory be to Allah! How high is the station of His chosen Beloved! The Quran affirms the Prophet's intercession, and Allah has promised him countless favors and pledged to please him. And look at the compassion of the Beloved ﷺ, who will not rest content while any of his ummah remains in Hell.
