Durood / Durud Shareef- Why We Shouldn’t Abbreviate the Salutation?

Why We Shouldn’t Abbreviate Durood Shareef?

Often the English abbreviations: “SAW”, “SAWS” and ”PBUH” and the Arabic/Urdu letter abbreviations “Saad” and ”Saad-Laam-’Aien-Meem” have been written after our beloved Holy Prophet’s
(Sallal Laahu ‘Alaieh Wa Sallam) name.

Many people think  this is enough to fulfill our duty as followers to write or say Durood.  However this is haram (unlawful)!  It is a shame that this dishonor is so common.  It is as though we don’t what to give due respect to the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaieh Wa Sallam). Why do we distant ourselves from Divine rewards and grace?

Does it really take that much time or effort to say or write a few words?  Especially considering that we call ourselves his (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaieh Wa Sallam) devotees and followers. We should not forget to remember him (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaieh Wa Sallam)  in with the most refined and dignified words.
The Holy Prophet says

If one writes the blessed name of the Holy Prophet, the Angels will continue sending blessings on him as long as it remains intact in the book.”
The Holy Prophet  have said ,
“He is a miser who he does not recite Durood Shareef when my name is mentioned.”
Hazrat Imaam Jalaal ud deen Siyyuti (Rahmatul Laah Alaieh) states,

“The man who was first to introduce this concept of Durood Shareef abbreviation had his hand amputated.”
Similarly,  it is disrespectful to write any of the following abbreviations. Why deprive yourself from blessings?  Such nonsense should be avoided.
  • “‘Aien-Meem” or just  ”‘Aien” in place of ‘Alaiehis-Salaam
  • Qaaf “in place of “Quddisa Sirruhoo
  • Raa Haa” in place of “Rahmatul Laah ‘Alaieh

Sallal Laahu ‘Alan Nabiy-yil Ummi-Yee Wa ‘Alaiehi Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam Salaataam Wa Salaaman ‘Alaieka Yaa Rasoolal Laah!
