The First Qiblah-Masjid Al Aqsa - Islamic Knowledge

The Qiblah /Direction ….is the direction towards the Kaaba in the Sacred Mosque in Makkah, which is used by Muslims in various religious contexts, particularly the direction of prayer for the Prayers Salah.

The verses regarding the Kabah and Qiblah need the attention. We all know that when the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was in the Makaah the Muslim used to pray by turning their faces towards Baiet ul Maqdas [Masjid Al Aqsa - Palestine]. Because until then Baiet ul Maqdas was first Qiblaa.

Masid Al Aqsa

But Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had a different wish in his heart. Even after 16 to 17 months after migration to Madinah Munawwarah Muslim used to pray by turning their faces towards the First Qiblaa Awwal. Our Beloved Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ was offering prayer of Zuhr [noon] in a mosque in the village of Abu Salaam; Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had a wish that Kabaah Ibrahimi [Holy Kabaah] is fixed as our [Muslims] Qiblaa. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ looks towards the Heaven during his prayer.

Holy Quraan

Consider the Ayaat no 144,

“We have been seeing you turning your face to the heavens. So, We will certainly assign to you a Qiblah that you would like. Now, turn your face in the direction of the Sacred Mosque [Al-Masjid-ul-Haram], and [O Muslims], wherever you are, turn your faces in its direction. Even those who have been given the Book know well that it is the truth from their Lord, and Allaah is not unaware of what they do.”

Two Rakat of Zuhr Prayer has been offered and two are remaining, the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ turned his face towards the Holy Kabah and finished the other two facing the Holy Kabah in Makaah.

The mosque in which this incident occurred is known as Masjid Al Qiblatayn meaning Masjid with two Qiblah’s.

Just imagine what would be the scene when Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was praying turning his face towards Holy Kabah. May Allaah Kareem bless us to offer prayers five time regularly and love the Holy Kabah. This is the House of Allaah Almighty, Allaah Almighty does not need any place or house to live but it is for us [human beings] so that we can offer prayers by turning our faces towards it…
