HAZRAT IMAAM MUSLIM رضی اللہ عنہ ENCOUNTER WITH THE WOMAN ON
THE STREET OF KUFA!
Extremely, saddened and grieved and lost in these thoughts,
Hazrat Muslim رضی اللہ عنہ. asked
for water from a woman called Tu’aa who was sitting at the doorstep of her
home, waiting for her son.
The woman gave him some water and asked as to who he was, where he came from and where he was going. He replied, ’O kind woman! I am Muslim bin 'Aqeel, that came to Kufa as the deputy of Husaien bin 'Alee’ She asked, ‘You are Muslim bin 'Aqeel and you are wandering around in this state? I heard that thousands of people had pledged allegiance on your hand, prepared to sacrifice life and property.’ Hazrat Imaam Muslim رضی اللہ عنہ explained how the people of Kufa had deserted him and how they had all shut their doors in his time of desperation. The woman replied, ‘that her humble abode was open for him, and she considered it her great fortune that a member of the Holy Prophet’s ﷺ family be her guest.” That lady gave shelter to Hazrat Imaam Muslim رضی اللہ عنہ. He spent the evening at the woman’s home. Now this woman's son was a very evil and wicked person. This is also Almighty Allaah’s will that in the home of the good he can bestow an evil offspring, whilst in the home of the evil he can give a good child.
Allaah Kareem can cause a believer to be born in the house
of an unbeliever and cause an unbeliever to be born in the house of a believer.
He can cause Hazrat Ibrahim, علیہ السلام to be born in the house of
idol-worshippers and in the house of Hazrat Nooh علیہ السلام his son to be an
unbeliever. The wife of Firaun [Pharaoh] Hazrat Aasiya علیہ السلام become the
leader of the ladies of paradise, whilst the wife of Hazrat Looth علیہ السلام
becomes an unbeliever. Here after a while, the son of this woman [Tu’aa] whom
she was waiting for arrived, when he saw his mother going back and forth out of
the room, he asked about her activity, firstly this elderly woman did not disclose
anything but when her son persisted, Tu’aa informed him on this condition and
that he would keep it a secret. …she explained how Imaam Muslim, رضی اللہ عنہ a
descendant of the Holy Prophet ﷺ had been betrayed by the people of Kufaa and
she was fortunate to give him shelter and that he was in their home.
On hearing this, the son thought that fortune was smiling on
him, since his mother does not know that Ibn Ziyaad the new governor of Kufaa
appointed by Yazeed had offered a reward for the capture of Hazrat Imaam
Muslim. He now planned to inform the authorities that they could capture Hazrat
Imaam Muslim in his house, and he would claim the reward.
He did not inform his mother of his evil plan and he became
impatient to claim his reward.
The greed of acquiring a reward became so set in his heart
that the passing of the night became difficult for him. Soon at the break of
dawn, he left home and proceeded to inform the governor.
This is how Ibne
Ziyaad came to know about Hazrat Muslim’s whereabouts.
