Last Days of Ramadan- Unique Dua of a Bedouin narrated by Hazrat Umar
[Radiyal Laah Anhu]!
"Assalamu Alaiekum. As we depart from the blessed moments of Ramadan, I'd like to share a unique and profound dua (prayer) narrated by Hazrat Umar (Radiyal Laah Anhu) during the last ten days of Ramadan.
Hazrat Umar (Radiyal Laah Anhu) visited the Prophet's (Sallal Laahu Alaieh Wa Sallam) grave during the last ten days of Ramadan. There, he found a Bedouin man standing in front of the grave, praying. Hazrat Umar (Radiyal Laah Anhu) stood quietly behind him. The Bedouin was praying:
"O my Lord, this is Your beloved Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaieh Wa Sallam). I am Your servant, and Satan is Your enemy. If You forgive me, Your beloved Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaieh Wa Sallam) will be pleased, Your servant will be successful, and Your enemy will be grieved and humiliated. And if You don't forgive me, Your beloved Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaieh Wa Sallam) will be displeased, Your enemy will be happy, and Your servant will be destroyed.
You are the Most Merciful and Honorable. It is not befitting of Your greatness to displease Your beloved Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaieh Wa Sallam), and to please your enemy, and destroy your servant.
O my Allaah Almighty, it is the custom of the noble Arabs that when their leader passes away, they free all his slaves at his grave. This is the grave of the leader of all the worlds. Free me from the fire of Hell at his noble grave."
A unseen voice was heard 'That you are forgiven'.
Hazrat Umar (Radiyal Laah Anhu) was deeply moved and repeated the dua in a loud voice, tears streaming down his face.
Let us also pray this dua during the last ten days of Ramadan:
"O our Lord, we also pray this dua, just like the Bedouin did. Forgive us, our parents, our mothers, our relatives, and all those who have rights over us. Free our necks from the fire of Hell. Ameen, O Lord of the Worlds."
