Can the Holy Quran Be Interpolated?
The Holy Quran is the final revealed Book of Allah Almighty and the primary source of guidance for Muslims. It contains guidance for mankind and will remain a source of light and direction until the end of time.
A fundamental belief in Islam is that the Holy Quran cannot be interpolated, altered, or corrupted. Allah Almighty Himself has guaranteed the protection of His final revelation.
Can the Holy Quran Be Interpolated?
Answer: No, absolutely not.
The Holy Quran is protected from interpolation and corruption by the will and promise of Allah Almighty. Since Islam is the final and everlasting religion, its revealed Book will remain preserved.
Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran:
“Indeed, We have sent down the Reminder, and indeed We will surely preserve it.”(Surah Al-Hijr 15:9)
This verse gives Muslims the assurance that Allah Almighty Himself has undertaken the protection of His revelation.
The Quran Is Protected by Allah
The preservation of the Holy Quran is not dependent upon the efforts of its enemies or upon worldly circumstances. Allah Almighty has promised to safeguard His Book. Therefore, no person or group can successfully alter the Quran or introduce changes into its original revelation.
Throughout history, Muslims have carefully preserved the Quran through both memorization and written transmission. Millions of Muslims have committed the entire Quran to memory, while its written copies have also been transmitted and preserved throughout generations.
The Final and Everlasting Revelation
Earlier divine scriptures were sent to particular peoples and for particular periods. The Holy Quran, however, is the final revealed Book and was sent with guidance for mankind.
Because Islam is the final religion, the Quran remains its everlasting source of guidance. Muslims therefore believe that the Quran they recite today is the same divine revelation given to the beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
A Message of Faith
Belief in the preservation of the Holy Quran strengthens a Muslim's confidence in Allah's promise and in the authenticity of His final revelation. Muslims should respect the Quran, recite it regularly, understand its teachings, and try to follow its guidance in their daily lives.
The Quran is not merely a book to be recited; it is a source of guidance, wisdom, mercy, and spiritual direction.
Conclusion
The Holy Quran cannot be interpolated or corrupted because Allah Almighty has taken responsibility for preserving His final revelation. No matter how strongly its enemies may attempt to cause mischief, the Quran remains protected by the will and promise of Allah Almighty.
May Allah Almighty grant us the ability to recite the Holy Quran, understand its teachings, respect its commands, and live our lives according to its guidance. Aameen.
