BLESSED NAME: His name is [Hazrat] Ali [Radiyal Laahu Anhu] and is known as Abu al-Hasan and Abu Turaab and his titles are Asad ul laah and Haidar-e-Karaar

Fourth Caliph

HIS FATHER: His father was Hazrat Abu Taalib and grandfather was Abdul Mutallib. Abu Taalib was the uncle of the Prophet Muhammad [Sallal Laahu Alaieh Wa Sallam].

 

HIS MOTHER: His mother's name was Fatimah bint Asad, bin Haashim.

 

HIS BIRTH: Hazrat Ali [Radiyal Laahu Anhu] was born on a Friday the 13th of Rajab. His birth occurred 30 years after the incident of Feel [The Elephants]. He was born inside the Holy Kabaah, and none has been blessed with this excellence before him.

 

When Hazrat Ali [Radiyal Laahu Anhu] was five years old, the Prophet Muhammad [Sallal Laahu Alaieh Wa Sallam] kept him at his blessed home and took care of him. He was thus groomed in the home of the Prophet Muhammad [Peace e upon Him] until he was ten years old.

 

HIS FEATURES: Hazrat Ali [Radiyal Laahu Anhu] was of excellent built and not very tall in height. He was tan in color and very handsome. His face was very beautiful and would always be shining like the full moon. He had huge, black shining eyes. His shoulders were broad and well built like that of a lion. His beard was long and full. His body was very muscular. His hands and wrists were very strong and firm. If he gripped anyone with his hands, the person would not be able to breath. His thighs and legs were also very strong and firm. He walked very swiftly in the manner that the Prophet Muhammad [Sallal Laahu Alaieh Wa Sallam] walked.

 

Hazrat Ali [Radiyal Laahu Anhu] being a great Scholar of Islam

 

Hazrat Ali [Radiyal Laahu Anhu] was not only a great warrior but a great scholar as well. The Holy Prophet [Sallal Laahu Alaieh Wa Sallam] said about him, “I am the city of knowledge and Ali is its gate.” He [Radiyal Laahu Anhu] had an incredible amount of command over the teachings of Islam, especially in the Holy Quran. Hazrat Ali also had extraordinary abilities in public speech and sermons, writing letters, and recording his sayings which are well preserved. Hazrat Ali [Radiyal Laahu Anhu] was a master of Arabic Language and his writings were as valuable as his speech.

 

Martyrdom of Hazrat Ali-2Ist Ramadan [Radiyal Laahu Anhu]

 

One of the rebels, known as Ibn-e-Muljim, martyred Hazrat Ali [Radiyal Laahu Anhu] using a poisoned sword while He [Radiyal Laahu Anhu] was performing Salah in the mosque on 19th of Ramadan, in 40 A.H. Hazrat Ali [Radiyal Laahu Anhu] spent two restless days on his sick bed in extreme pain and distress. Eventually, the poison spread all over the body and he died on 21st of Ramadan at the time of Morning Prayer. Hazrat Ali was buried at Najaf -Iraq.

 

 The Great Sahaba Hazrat Ali [Radiyal Laahu Anhu] was well known for his bravery during battles against the non-believers. He also possessed the necessary personality traits of the firm belief in Allaah and His Holy Prophet [Sallal Laahu Alaieh Wa Sallam] he was blessed with humbleness, gratefulness, and true insight of the Quranic Instructions. He [Radiyal Laahu Anhu] spent his entire life in the services of Islam.
