HUR BIN YAZEED...& PARADISE-The Events of Karbala- 17
Hazrat Imaam Husaien رضی اللہ عنہ mounted his
horse and faced the Yazeedi army and said, ‘Is there anyone who would assist
the family of the Holy Prophet ﷺ, and thereby be assured of paradise.’ This
statement invoked a change in the attitude and destiny of Hur bin Yazeed. He
became restless on his horse to the extent that one of his associates inquired
as to why he had become so restless. He said, ‘I have seen you in great battles
and campaigns and you never were so unsettled. What is the matter?’ Hur bin
Yazeed said, ‘How can I explain, I am standing in between heaven and hell. A
force is pulling me to hell whilst an inner strength is pulling me towards
heaven.’
Saying this he whipped his horse and rode away
from the Yazeedi camp saying, ‘if I can help it, I must go to heaven.’ Hur left
the army of Yazeed:
Hur left the Yazeedi army, but the reality was
this that his coming over did not strengthen Imaam Husaien رضی اللہ عنہ’s army,
since there were thousands on the opposing side, but he was meant to be an
inmate of heaven and he was standing with the inmates of hell. He was a good
man amongst the corrupt and Imaam Husaien رضی اللہ عنہ’s ‘insight of reality’ called
out to create a reason for him to leave and come over. The call lit up the
heaven for Hur. Hur left the Yazeedi camp and came face to face with Hazrat Imaam
Husaien رضی اللہ عنہ’.
He said to Hazrat Imaam Husaien رضی اللہ عنہ’s
‘O son of the Messenger! You asked if anyone at this critical juncture would
help the children of the Holy Prophet! ﷺ, and enter heaven? I am at your
service, O grandson of the Messenger! ﷺ, If I give my life for you will I attain
the intercession of the Holy Prophet! ﷺ?
Hazrat Imaam Husaien رضی اللہ عنہ’s replied, ‘If
Allaah wills’ [In shaa Allaah]. Hur said, Imaam Husaien! please supplicate
that Allaah Kareem forgive my earlier transgression, for now on I am going to
give my life in defense for you’. He then unsheathed his sword and faced the
Yazeedi army. Amr bin Sa’ad said, ‘Look at this situation. A commander of our
army has absconded to the enemy. This is treason. Teach him such a lesson that
it serves as a lesson for generations to come. The Yazeedi’s attacked him, and
he retaliated with divine help. He fought bravely and after suffering many
wounds he was martyred.
