EID
AND QUR’AAN
The
word is derived from the Arabic word denoting happiness, celebrations, and
joyous occasion.
The word Eid appeared in Soorah al-Maida, Table Spread,
meaning a solemn festival.
The
Disciples of Prophet Jesus Ieesa [Alaiehis Salaam] requested him to pray
to his Lord to send down a Table Spread with festive food to eat of it, and to
satisfy their heart, and may be Witnesses to the miracles…
With
billions of followers of Islam Eid Celebration is celebrated with great fervor
and reverence all around the world, be it in Russia, Balkans, Europe, America,
African countries, Middle East, Indo Sub Continent, Australia, China or Far
East regions.
In such a state, Eid is one of the most celebrated festivals
around the world.
The
Muslims celebrates Eid twice a year, Eid-ul-Fitr and the Eid ul Adha,[The Eid
Of Sacrifice] which comes about 10 weeks later, in the Islamic month of
Zill Hajj.
Eid
day is celebrated on the first of Shawwal, the 10th month, which follows
Ramadan. It proclaims, and heralds the end of the month of fasting. After
observing fast for the whole month and doing intensive worship, reading of the
Qur'aan, giving charity, sharing, purifying one's behavior, and doing good
deeds.
Eid marks a day of celebrations and thanking Almighty Allaah, the Creator
and Cherisher of the Universe.
It
is a true Thanksgiving Day for the believing men and women. The spirit of
spiritual revival social unity, sympathy, love and true affections which
prevailed throughout the entire month of Ramadan.
Eid is the reward. On this
day Muslims show their real joy and thankfulness for the health, strength and
the opportunities of life, which Allaah Kareem has given to them to fulfill
their obligation of fasting and doing good deeds during the blessed month of
Ramadan.
